A Living Wax Museum Breathing Life Into Biographies
INTRODUCTION TASK PROCESS EVALUATION CONCLUSION CREDITS This Web Quest lesson is designed to engage students to research notable African-American Historical Figures and to present them in an oral presentation. Students are to pretend they are the historical figure, so as to represent him or her in a "Wax Museum" gallery walk.

INTRODUCTION You will participate in a “Living Wax Museum” to represent a famous person in African American History. You will dress up as the person and give a short speech about their life and important contributions.

THE TASK You will research a famous African American to create a report and a short speech about his or her life. You will dress and speak as if you were that person. When you “come to life” you will tell about that person’s life including birth, early childhood, major accomplishments, interesting facts about their life and death.

PROCESS You will be assigned a famous African American to research from the suggested list. Record information about your famous person in your graphic organizer. Write out your report be sure to include resources. Prepare a short speech and practice it enough times to almost memorize the lines. Find or create interesting props and/or articles of clothing to bring your famous figure to life. Use invitations to invite people to your museum. Click on this LINK to begin your research.

CONCLUSION Good work on your “Living wax museum” of a famous African American. You should now know more about famous African Americans and their contributions to the world. These were just a few, you can continue to investigate other important African Americans in history. Maybe one day someone will study you!
