Barrel racing is a very fasted sport. You need to have no fear of speed. Your horse and you must be in absolute sync other wise the whole thing will go down hill in a hurry. You must have a bond and clear communications with your horse. It is an event in which you must stop the clock. You must always ride the perfect pattern or you are out of the money in a real hurry. asas

THE PERFECT PATTERN There are lots things to remember while barrel racing. Those things to remember are called the mechanics. The perfect pattern has 5 axis points. Axis points are where you ride your horse’s front and back legs over top of. To have the perfect pattern you also must stay the same distance away from the barrel at all times. Staying the distance is referred to as the pocket. Also in the perfect pattern you must keep you lines as straight as possible.
6
Horse Equipment One of the most important pieces of equipment is your saddle. You have to have the right saddle in order to keep you on your horse while going so fast.
7
Horse Equipment Another major piece of equipment is the bridle. Without there would be no communication between horse or rider. It is an essential.
8
Tack It is extremely important to have all the equipment you will need.
9
Looks A barrel racer has to wear a long sleeved shirt and jeans. A good barrel racer has to look like a winner and so does your horse. If you want to be a winner you have to look the part too.

There are many great Barrel racers in the U.S.A. and Canada. The top two barrel racers right now are Kaley Bass and Fallon Taylor. Fallon Taylor on Babyflo Kaley Bass on Wonders Cowboy Dan

Kaley Bass is the top barrel racer in the Women’s Professional Rodeo Assosiation(WPRA) Pro Standings of 2014. She lives in kissimmee Florida. Kaley is 22 and she joined WPRA in 2011. She has been to National Finals Rodeo (NFR) twice. She is working to go a 3 rd time. In 2013 she won $148,512 her total career earning is $354,085. Kaley Bass’s Horse is Wonders Cowboy Dan, “Cowboy”. He is a 14 year old grey gelding she has had him since he was 3 years old. All of her winnings have been on cowboy. In 2013 he won kaley $60,998 at NFR.

Fallon Taylor is second best barrel racer in the WPRA pro standings. She lives in Whitesboro Texas. Fallon is 32 years old and she joined WPRA in 1990. She went to NFR when she was only 13 years old. She took a break from horses and became a model and an actress for awhile. In August 2009 she broke her C-2 vertebrae in a horse training accident. She was training a horse at her arena and he slipped and reared slamming his head into Taylor's face. “He broke all these bones on the side of my face and my eye-socket,” said Taylor, stroking her hand across her right cheek. “He hit me again that fractured my skull in four places. Then, he launched me off, and as I was coming off, he kicked my legs and sent me straight down into the dirt. I landed straight up and down from about 15 feet.” Doctors told Taylor she also had a C2 spinal injury they said she had a 2% chance of walking or talking again. As tough as Taylor is she walked out of hospital two days later but was forced to wear a halo brace around her ranch for the next year. Now she is getting ready for NFR in December in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Charmayne James is the best barrel racer there ever has been. No doubt about it. She has worked hard for every thing she has today. Charmayne James lived on a feedlot in Clayton, New Mexico. One day when she was 12 Charmayne's dad told her to come out and see the new horse the feedlot and brought in. He was a 6 year old bay gelding named “Gills bay boy” AKA Scamper. Her daddy told her wait 30 minutes till you lope him other wise he will buck. So Charmayne rode him around then quickly kicked him into a lope he bucked and she laughed, that was the start of there unbreakable bond. She patterned him in the field behind there house and started going to armature rodeos and jackpots. She won it all. Quiet quickly she went pro. When she was 14 she qualified for NFR. She went and won her first world Champion Barrel Racer tittle. That’s was the beginning to her 11 world tittles. She won ten of them with Scamper then the eleventh on her horse cruiser. Charmayne James cloned her amazing horse scamper. She now has his clone Clayton. He is healthy and well. Now I could go on and write you a novel on Charmayne James but I will just leave you with this ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARYlauTj2lE
