1 AJ2016 What you need to know!

2 What is Jamboree? Biggest Scouting gathering in Australia.
Held every 3 years. 12,000 Scouts from all over Australia get together for 2 weeks of fun. The last one was held in Maryborough, QLD, in 2013.

3 Where Will It Be Held? Cataract Dam Scout park, NSW.
85km south of Sydney (by car). A Scout owned park located on 300 acres of bushland.

5 When Will It Be Held? Australian Jamboree 2016 will:
Start on Sunday, 3rd January 2016 Finish on Wednesday, 13th January, 2016 Note: These dates exclude time required to move in and out.

6 Key Dates Saturday, January 2nd 2016:
Victorian Contingent Departs for AJ2016 Sunday January 3rd 2016: Opening Ceremony Saturday, January 9th 2016: Market / Future Scout / Visitors Day

7 Key Dates (cont…) Wednesday, January 13th 2016: Closing Ceremony
Thursday, January 14th 2016: Victorian Contingent Return Home

8 How Do We Get There? We will travel to AJ2016 by chartered bus.
Various pickup locations through out VIC (to be determined).

9 Who Can Go? Must be a registered Scout and not yet had their 15th birthday as of 2nd January, 2016 Scouts must have their Pioneer badge by 1st December, 2015 Scouts must have done at least 10 nights camping under canvas and 4 of these nights must be consecutive.

10 Can Venturers Go? Yes, but must be b/w 16 and 18.
Must have the Venturer Skills badge. Must be a Venturer for a min of 6 months Will assist in running activities…..will not take part in Scout activities.

11 How Much Will It Cost An invoice is generated and sent to the address listed on the application. Can pay by Credit Card, Cheque, Direct Deposit.

12 I Need Financial Assistance
Speak to your Group Leader in the first instance. The N.E.A.R. Fund (The National Event Assistance Reserve) has a limited amount of money to assist severely disadvantaged scouts.

13 What’s Included In The Cost?
All Transport Activities (except Air Activities) Food – Special diets catered for, fussy eaters are not! Jamboree hat, scarf, theme shirt & badge Jamboree award Identity tag Contingent Gear

14 What If I Change My Mind? You must advise the Victorian Contingent Leader in writing as soon as possible (

15 Will I Get A Refund? Before 30th April Amount paid will be fully refunded After 30th April 2015 before 31st August Amount paid less $100 After 31st August 2015 before 1st November Amount paid less $250 After 1st November No refund at all except in the case of exceptional circumstances.

16 What Will Your Scout Be Doing?
Range of different activities: Night Entertainment On-site activities Off-site activities

17 Night Entertainment Every night (except 1) there will be activities.
Opening and Closing Ceremonies Gang Show (Theatre) International Night Comedy Night Jamboree Idol Dance Parties Movies Performers

18 Offsite Activities Water Activities at Botany Bay
Sydney City Tour - Patrols (groups of 5-6) will visit iconic locations in the Sydney CBD Theme Park – Scouts will visit one of Sydney’s Theme Parks Air Activities – Get to fly in a Cessna 172 ** Air Activities available at an extra cost.

Australiana Village Justice For Scouts - Bring your Scout leaders to trial. Leap into Riches – Pan for gold. Brownsea – Take part in traditional Scout Craft and Bush Craft activities. Circus – Run away to the Jamboree circus Endurance Adventure – Navigate through the initiative course. Skills – Try out a Trade.

21 Can I Visit The Jamboree Site?
Yes, but pre-registration is required. ** Details on pre-registration are not available yet.

22 Parents, What Next? Decide if your child wants to go to Jamboree.
If they do, T2 to let him know => Register for Jamboree. Get together with your Group group and come up with a plan! Support your scout to get on activities and camps to complete their Pioneer badge.

23 Scouts! What You Need To Do!
Decide if you want to go. Get your Pioneer badge.

24 How To Register Register via the Victorian Contingent website.
newParticipant.php DO NOT register via the “AJ2016 website”.

25 Registration Process Fill in the details. You will get an with a link to your application page and a PIN to enable you to log back in later. Once you login you will need to: Read through the “Eligibility, Cost & Payment Schedule” and accept. Complete all the details on each tab in the application form.

Upload your photo. Read through the terms and conditions and accept. Select "Submit application" Your Group Leader will get a message to log in to approve your application.
