2 Is it possible to receive a Social Welfare payment while in full-time education in UCC?

3 1. Back to Education Allowance (BTEA) 2. One-Parent Family Payment 3. Some other payments, such as: Disability payments, Invalidity Pension, Illness Benefit…

4 Back to Education Allowance (BTEA) must have been getting a qualifying social welfare payment for 9 months (234 days of unemployment) Payment amount depends on age and current payment amount (under 26 = € 160 p/week – over 26 = previous payment amount) Part-time work does not affect BTEA You can apply to SUSI to pay the Student Contribution Fee but you can not receive a SUSI Maintenance grant with BTEA You may also receive Rent Allowance

5 BTEA - Qualifying Payments Jobseeker's Allowance or Jobseeker's Benefit Farm Assist One-Parent Family Payment Deserted Wife's Benefit or Allowance Widow's, Widower's or Surviving Civil Partner's (Contributory) Pension Widow's, Widower's or Surviving Civil Partner's (Non-Contributory) Pension Prisoners Wife's Allowance Carer's Allowance Blind Pension Disability Allowance Invalidity Pension Incapacity Supplement (based on a life Disablement Pension) Illness Benefit (for 2 years or more)

6 One-Parent Family Payment You must get permission from Social Welfare You can receive a SUSI Maintenance grant You will lose Rent Allowance Ask yourself - Will your payments reduce when your child gets older? NB - Calculate earnings through your time in UCC and not just on a weekly basis.

7 Other Payments You may be able to keep some payments in UCC Other payments may include Disability payments, Invalidity Pension, Illness Benefit* You must get permission from Social Welfare You may be able to receive a SUSI Maintenance grant
