3 Introduction and Orientation Opportunities
Online Modules Day One: it begins with Launchpad Orientation - Nursing Ambulatory Care Orientation Department-Specific Orientation * Combined above, all regulatory standards regarding orientation and education in the HR chapter are covered in these classes and modules.

4 Online Modules New hires need to complete the following training within 30 days of hire using their Employee ID #: Code of Conduct Compliance Quiz CICARE Training Cultural Competency Training Orientation and Annual Education Guide New for 2015 (includes Infection Prevention video for clinical staff) HIPAA Privacy and Information Security Training for New Workforce Members must be taken BEFORE attending the New Hire Processing Session.

6 New employees attend program on Day One of employment
Class offered 3x/month, 8:00am-4:30pm Facilitated by UCLA Health Trainers/Shola Richards, Director Focus is on U and introducing U to the UCLA Health System and its values; how U can contribute, how U impact patient care; and welcoming U in your new role as part of the team Plus, many interactive activities Many regulatory topics, such as policy review and Infection Prevention have moved to the online module Will continue to receive ID badge, parking pass and benefits info. in this class Onboarding process includes signing up for this program

7 Orientation and Annual Education Guide
Regulatory topics enhanced in modules for 2015 Infection Prevention video is included at end of powerpoint slides and before post test in the clinical module. Upon completion of THIS module, date will download into HR Tracking in the Hospital Orientation field. This is how you get credit for the Hospital Orientation requirement starting in 2015. This is a required module for ALL staff upon hire now instead of just per diems working less than 50%. Attendance will be tracked in the Day One program, but that date is not your proof of meeting hospital orientation. Departments need to review their HR Tracking profiles to make sure all employees completed all the online modules within the first 30 days of hire.

8 Launchpad Orientation
Old name: Nursing Orientation New learner centered orientation program Priorities are the patient care experience and Nursing’s professional practice model Includes presentations with case study discussions, breakout skill stations, documentation in the EHR and simulation CareConnect will be learned in context with nursing activities and workflows Class is offered twice a month for 4 days from Tues-Fri and the following Monday is CareConnect training Attendees: Dept. of Nursing Inpatient staff

9 Ambulatory Care Orientation
CareConnect training day first followed by a Two Day orientation program Day 1: Presentations on UCLA Health and Ambulatory Care Overview, web resources, Amb Care policies and practices, workflow, Infection Control, Interpreter Svcs, quality rounds and many patient safety topics with skill station training Day 2: More Skill Stations and Simulation Training Depts. can sign up new staff or Amb Care Nursing to attend. Class offered once a month.

10 Dept Specific Orientation
Dept specific, or unit specific orientation needs to be completed within the first 30 days of employment. The EC section should be completed within the first week with a buddy available to guide the new employee during emergencies. Topics also include performance expectations with a review of the JD, competencies and PE process, patient safety, dept. policies and practices, PI activities and review of the environment and work location. Form is placed in the personnel file upon completion (signed and dated).
