2 NHS e-Referral Service The Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) and NHS England are jointly committed to ensuring a smooth and efficient transition from Choose and Book to the new NHS e-Referral Service. This presentation is designed to show professional users:- how the service will look new features that will enhance usability Information is grouped under specific user role, ie, Referrer, Provider, to enable users to focus on the parts of the service that they use. Please be aware that any late changes to screens will be added to the presentation as they are available.

3 NHS e-Referral Service - Introduction The new, NHS e-Referral Service, will replace Choose and Book. It will –'go live' on June 15th 2015. Choose and Book will be switched off for all users at 19:00 on Friday 12th June –focus on transforming the underlying IT solution and safely and securely migrating data to that solution –create a new platform to build on in the future –enable us to speed up future development and delivery of new functionality –support simpler and faster integration with other IT systems and solutions (for example, GP Systems and Hospital Patient Administration Systems), which will benefit both professional users and patients. Whilst the new service, with its more modern look and feel, will appear different, the functionality remains almost the same. This should ensure that users can continue to use the service on day one, without the need for re-training. Following a short period of stabilisation, we will enhance the service by making improvements and introducing new functionality.

4 NHS e-Referral Service - Support Available Pre-transition Webinars, including slide set E-learning Usual Local Implementation Manager support Post-transition calls National support –Support will move from Atos to the HSCIC National Service Desk, but end users should see no difference in the support given. –First line support should be to contact your local IT Helpdesk; if they cannot resolve the problem they (or an accredited helpdesk) will contact the HSCIC National Service Desk. –Information will be sent out to all Accredited Local Helpdesks in preparation for this change. –If users wish to highlight any areas for improvement or need advice regarding functionality they can contact the NHS e-Referral Service Business Change Team via a WebForm on the website.

5 NHS e-Referral Service - General Information No changes are required to smartcards. Smartcards and current roles will allow access to the new service. The web address for NHS e-Referral Service is the same as the address for Choose and Book, being: –https://nww.ebs.ncrs.nhs.uk Integrated systems, ie GP Systems, will automatically connect to the new service. During the weekend of the transition to the new service, all current and previous referrals will be migrated to the new service. This means that you will be able to access all referrals from day one.
