Researcher ID Pilot project with Thomson-Reuters to develop a service that would ◦ Bulk register UQ academics for RIDs ◦ Provide UQ with access to the RID accounts for batch upload and download of publication data ◦ Initial phase of the project involved working with TR to develop appropriate workflows

Excellent source of accurate publication metadata when limiting imported records to those with a WoS identifier Allows for validating/correcting existing eSpace records Efficient for importing publication data for new staff (if they are in disciplines with good WoS coverage) High Quality High Value

Bulk registration is not an efficient process Very low completion rates ResearcherID integration is now done on a case- by-case basis: ◦ managed by UQ eSpace staff on request from UQ academics (or on their behalf) via email ◦ UQ eSpace imports new WoS publications into eSpace weekly from linked ResearcherID accounts and links those papers to UQ researchers without human intervention ◦ Can initiate import of WoS publications in linked ResearcherID accounts at any time ◦ Can upload eSpace publications to linked ResearcherID accounts (though this is not done very often).

Asked liaison librarians to work with researchers to clean up Scopus ID’s - mixed success Subscribed to SciVal in late 2014 Working on a project to clean up researchers – started with those with known name issues and/or high H index. This has proved to much easier – more efficient and faster turnaround from Elsevier Key Learning – researchers will not do this themselves unless they see a benefit

UQL took out premium ORCiD Membership mid 2014 (funded from the Library Collection Budget and supported by the ODVCR) Developing an application to allow UQ researchers to manage their author identifiers Author identity management will allow for high quality metrics-based reporting provide researchers will a rich source of article level metrics based on integrated data

1. Researcher details will be pre-populated from UQ’s HR data – researcher may have to fill in any missing information 2. The API will create an ORCiD account and will send the researcher an email which they have to claim the account in 10 days. 3. ORCiD then included in UQ eSpace author profile.

Created several hooks to make it easy Users never have to enter in their ORCiD number Soft launch – will target high profile researchers and all new researchers as part of induction process Will encourage all RHD students to create an ORCiD – part of our scholarly publishing program Work with the ODVCR to incorporate into HERDC, ERA and various training programs eg Essential Knowledge for Research Management Seminar
