2 Peninsula and Islands Europe is a Large Peninsula
Contains many smaller peninsulas Most places in Europe are no more than 300 miles from the ocean or sea The European way of life involves using water for business and leisure

Norway and Sweden Bounded by Norwegian Sea, North Sea, and Baltic Sea The Peninsula shows the results of glaciers The rich top soil has been scraped off by glaciers Land was left with a thin, rocky soil Very hard to farm Glaciers also scraped large valleys that are now filled with water

7 Balkan Peninsula Bordered by Adriatic, Mediterranean, and Aegean Seas
Many Mountains render transportation difficult Home to Albania, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Macedonia, Romania, and Slovenia

Resources in Europe have helped shaped the lives of the people Affects the foods people eat Jobs they hold Houses in which they live European folk tales take place in dark, deep forests that used to be present in Europe long ago Irish lack resources so they cut and burn peat In other parts of Europe people have mined coal for generations Deep, Dark Forest Peat
