2 Korean War (1950-1953) Split into two after WWII by 38 th parallel North= Communists (Soviet Union) South= Democracy (United States) Today, Korea remains divided along the 38 th parallel.

3 Vietnam War (1954-1975) Split into North and South North= Communist (Soviet Union) South= Democratic (U.S.) Ho Chi Minh= leader of Vietnam U.S. troops left, and two years later the North took over the South. Today, Vietnam is still Communist and united.

4 China Mao Zedong- Burned art, books, etc. (Shi Huangdi) Divided families Great Leap Forward- Steel production; At first it propelled China to a world power, BUT pollution and starvation threatened millions. “Chairman Mao” – little red book
