3 COURSE: BASICS OF CORROSION This training course is an introduction to corrosion, to explain how metals/alloys corrode. Course Title: Basics of corrosion Course Learning Outcomes: On the completion of the course, the trainee should be able to:  Understand principles corrosion.  Develop knowledge how to measure corrosion, monitor, prevent and control.  Understand methods of monitoring, prevention and control.  Discuss engineering problems related to corrosion. Course Outline: Introduction to corrosion, chemistry of corrosion, it’s mechanisms, types of corrosion, corrosion monitoring techniques, corrosion control methods and corrosion prevention. 5 COURSE: INTRODUCTION TO POLYMER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING This course is designed to provide basic theoretical knowledge and skills to engineers and technician with good experience of Polymer Industries. Course Title: Principles of Polymer Rheology and Processing Course Learning Outcomes: On the completion of the course, the trainee should be able to:  Understand the basic principles of polymer melt behavior.  Understand the concepts of melt viscosity and melt flow index.  Have a broad knowledge of the main polymer processing techniques.  Understand mixing and the effect of additives on polymer processing. Course Outline: Melting and flow behavior of polymers, Melt viscosity and melt flow index, Principles of Injection Moulding, Extrusion, Blow Moulding and other processes and Raw material properties and the effect of additives on processing. 8 COURSE: PROCESS HAZARD ANALYSIS This course is designed to provide basic theoretical knowledge and skills to engineers, operators and technicians with good experience of handling hazardous chemicals in petrochemical industries. The main focus of the course is basic hazards, related processes and analysis, classifications of hazards, chemicals handling in industry, some important properties and applications of hazardous chemicals, and dealing chemicals with different properties. Course Title: Process Hazard Analysis Course Learning Outcomes: On completion of the course, the trainee should be able to:  Apply the basic principles and technical skills in different reactions  Develop knowledge and confidence in industrial handling materials and reactions  Describe basic concepts that are used to describe pollutions and environment.  List and explain different classes of reactive chemicals that are used to describe hazards.  Describe the route cause, properties and applications of common industrial and engineering problems related hazards  Discuss the relationship between hazards and health specifications.  Describes basic thermal, electrical and optical properties of hazards.  Develop competence in the use of different properties of hazardous materials in industrial environment Course Outline: Introduction: hazardous chemicals, exposure limits and handling techniques; Chemistry of hazardous chemicals; Hazardous properties and determination techniques; Analysis of different processes and their hazards; Fundamental reactions, pollutants and environmental problems.
