8. www.standtogetherforsafety.com.au Our Future In early 2008 the Industry’s Performance experienced a worrying deterioration when the industry realised a 30% increase overall in the lost time injury frequency rate to 1.69 Although this rate remains a substantial improvement on the rates experienced in the industry prior to 2003, it is still disappointing and clearly there is much work to be done to ensure we remain strongly focused on the industry’s main goal of zero safety incidents. Into 2008 and 2009, APPEA is working with its member companies on a range of leadership initiatives to make sure we remain one hundred percent focused on working together and to ensure appropriate investment in infrastructure, preventative maintenance and retaining key skills and experience.
