3 GCS REPORTING Run sheets have it in the order of Eyes, Motor, Verbal. Self explanantory and includes what each score corresponds to. When reporting to MD/RN/Fire/etc. in LA County, protocol states that GCS should be state in the order Eyes, Verbal, Motor.

4 Arrive on scene to a patient slumped over on a bench. You attempt to get your patient’s attention by introducing yourself. Patient does not respond. You induce interdigital pressure and your patient wakes up and seems out of it. Patient is A/Ox2, oriented to time and event, and pulled his hand away when you induced interdigital pressure. What is his GCS?

6 Arrive on scene to a patient who is sitting on a chair. Patient tracks you as you walk in and is A/Ox3 complaining of a laceration to her hand. She is able to move her fingers and CMS is intact in all 4 extremities. What is her GCS?

8 Arrive on scene to a patient being held upright on a chair by his friend. Alcohol on board. You do a sternal rub to wake him up but he does not respond and just slumps over. What is his GCS? What is the most important thing you can do for this patient?

9 EYES: 1 VERBAL: 1 MOTOR: 1 TOTAL: 3 Maintain the Airway (OPA/NPA)

10 Arrive on scene to a male sitting upright against a tree. He tracks you as you walk up to him. He is A/Ox1 and when you ask where he is he repeatedly says “allergies to medications.” When you check capillary refill he pulls away. What is his GCS?
