2 Globalization of Culture American media has been forced upon people in U.S. and around the world Media is everywhere, television, magazines, etc. Pushes for ideas that may not be positive Shapes views of the world, what is considered good, bad, etc. Tells us what to eat, what to wear, what to think.

3 Cultural Shame People who don’t emulate American culture as depicted by media feel ashamed of their culture. They therefore repress their culture and try to assimilate because they want to be accepted and they do so by following what media says is correct.

4 Separation Assimilate or keep culture and alienate themselves from others Assimilate or go away “The canonization of one globally homogenous culture over many or the cocoonization of each culture within itself.” Aiding globalization of American culture

5 Tolerance Media has trained people that its ideas are correct and when people don’t follow those ideas, they are persecuted for doing so Everyone should be speaking English The American way is the right way and if you don’t walk, talk, and think like an American, then you aren’t accepted

6 Conclusion Media has created the idea that American culture is the only acceptable culture People around the world begin to believe it themselves and become Americanized Leads to globalization of the American culture Destroying the diverse cultures of the world Creating a singular worldview Peoples identities are lost.
