© Russell Martin & Associates www.russellmartin.com4 Manage to the learning objectives: keep the group/participant on task properly allocate time spent on learning and breaks succinctly transfer content to the learner in classes use minimal amounts of lecture (less than 20% of time) use storytelling, simulation, and review (80%) be completely knowledgeable of the material do not hesitate to truthfully say "I don't know" but then do the research and get back to the learner provide resources to reinforce learning from your own experiences Manage negative participants: keep them from disrupting the learning experience for others and convert them to positive learners: do not take it as a personal affront invite the learner to fully express their views call on the learner before they have a chance to interrupt reinforce positive behavior last resort: truthfully coach the learner with facts concerning their behavior away from others, and if necessary, ask to leave or escalate to the proper contacts Adjust the timing of the event to the priorities of the participant: prioritize learning objectives at the beginning Create an effective learning environment for a class: arrive at least 1 hour early put learner supplies at each seat put up peripheral learning posters mix up the students during class follow the procedures for sign-in, evaluations, receipts and any other processes. Present a positive and blame-free delivery (no 'they made me, they did this'). Own all issues. troubleshoot the glitches inherent in all events: missing supplies, missing learners, poor environment, travel glitches FACILITATOR: Performance Standards & Expectations

She graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a B.A. in religion and psychology. She received her M.A. in theological studies from the School of Theology at Claremont, California, and her Ph.D. in the philosophy of religion and theology from the Claremont Graduate School. She has published the book The Pluralism Within: a Reconstruction of Theological Anthropology based on Soren Kierkegaard and Luce Irigaray (Mercer University Press, 2010) and edited Creating Women's Theology: A Movement Engaging Process Thought (Pickwick Publications, 2011). She also periodically contributes to lectionary projects for both the Process and Faith Center and the Human Rights Campaign. Her article “Out in Scripture” is accessible on the Human Rights Campaign website. She is a practicing Episcopalian, serving at the altar and in the healing ministry of a local congregation.
