2 Idioms An idiom is a phrase where the words together have a meaning that is different from the dictionary definitions of the individual words. Because of this, idioms make it hard for people trying to learn a new language.

3 Idioms EX:The fight we had is now water under the bridge. EX:When we pulled up in our new Cadillac the neighbors were green with envy. Mon petit chou. Mon petit chou a la creme

4 Motifs In literature, a motif refers to a recurring thematic element or central idea and symbol. Another way to put is: Motifs are recurring structures, contrasts, or literary devices that can help to develop and inform the text's major themes.
