9. The Shakespearean sonnet : This kind of sonnet was developed in the sixteenth century. It has a much simpler rhyme pattern. It is a poem consisting of three stanzas each of four lines in length ( hese are called „quatrains‟). The sonnet ends with two rhyming lines, called „a rhyming couplet‟.
