1 The Preliminaries WCC 2015 Rules and Regulations Competition is open to members of the Maltese Bartenders Guild. It will be held at the Melita Gardens, Attard, on the 26 th May 2015 at 1100hrs. All participants need to be in the Competitors Area on the day at 0930hrs. All applications must be submitted by Sunday 12 th of May 2015. Only products listed in the attached “List of Products”, are to be used in the preparation of the cocktails. Participants will be divided in groups by a draw and compete in a round robin. The contestant with the highest number of points will be the Winner of each group will then compete in the Mystery Box Final. It is obligatory to use any product from the Finest Call Range in the cocktail and a product of the Real Range. Not more than 6 ingredients are to be used in the cocktail, including dashes and/or drops. It should also be noted that if any garnish is put in the cocktail it will be considered as an ingredient. A maximum of 7cl of alcoholic content is allowed. It should also contain at least 12cl of cocktails syrups, juices, soft drinks and the like. Contestant must bring a copy of the recipe of the cocktail submitted. The use of Liquid Nitrogen and/or Dry Ice is not permitted. No food colouring and/or dyes can be used in the recipe or garnish. Glassware used will be a hurricane glass(44cl). All glassware will be provided by the Maltese Bartenders Guild. No other crockery, glass, tray or any accessory can be presented to enhance the appearance of the cocktail. Only the hurricane glass provided by the Guild will be presented to the Tasting Jury. All participants must provide their own equipment (ice scooper, chopping board, shakers, blenders, mixing glasses, etc..).

2 The Preliminaries WCC 2015 Rules and Regulations All participants must bring their own ingredients for garnish and any fresh juices used are to be made on site (during the allowed time for preparation of garnish). Infusions are not allowed. All applications must include a list of ingredients to be used. Once the recipe and garnish have been submitted and accepted, NO changes will be allowed. All participants will have 10 minutes to prepare the garnish. All particpants must wait for the instruction of the committee member before starting their garnish preparation. Participants must prepare 3 identical cocktails according to the recipe submitted. 1 cocktail will be for presentation purposes whilst the other 2 cocktails will be for tasting. Participants will have 7 minutes to prepare these 3 said cocktails. Use of speed pourers is not allowed. Hygiene aspects will be taken into consideration. It is expected that Hygiene is paramount. Flair bartending and other sort of entertainment, is not allowed. Mobile phones, tablets or laptops are not permitted. Cocktails will be judged on Presentation, Aroma and Taste. Technique will be judged by a selected Technical Jury and points will be deducted where necessary. The Competition Finalists will have 10 minutes to produce one cocktail from a number of pre-established products/ingredients. The participants must prepare 2 cocktails of the same and these will be judged EXCLUSIVELY on Taste, Presentation and Aroma. The winning bartender will need to amend the recipe accordingly to include to the compulsory product which will be drawn by IBA for Malta in the coming months. Competition points will be allocated for the Bartender of the Year Award. Winner – 27 points Runner-up – 24 points 2 nd runner-up – 21 points Participation – 15 points PRIZE: The winner of the National Competition will represent Malta in the coming World Cocktail Competition in Sofia, Bulgaria, in October 2015. Flights and accommodation for the competition will be provided.
