2.  Ricky May was born in 1945 in Onehunga.  He went to Penrose high school.  He has 3 older bothers and 3 older sisters.  His family loves to sing songs and play musical instruments.

3.  He has a wife Colleen and one daughter Shani.  His daughter is age 22( 23 next year).  His brothers and sisters used to always enter talent quests for music.  His father was in a band.

4.  In 1988( the same year he died ) he received the Benny award from the variety artists club of New Zealand the highest honour available to New Zealand variety entertainer.  Famous American jazz artist Dave Brubeck described Ricky as the best jazz singer in the world.

5.  He died in 1988 June 1 st on Wednesday  I think he just died of old age.  Lots of Jazz singers from around the world came to sing at his funeral.
