Sketching & Drawing Types “One picture is worth a thousand words.”
2
Pictorial Sketches and Drawings #1 Shows the 3D perspective (height, width, and depth) in a 2D drawing width height 2D 3D depth
3
Horizon Line TOP SIDE FRONT Isometric Cube Width and depth lines are drawn at 30° from the horizon line. One view shows height, width, and depth. Width 30° Depth 30° Height 90°
4
Copy & Label this #2 (3 minutes) Height = 6 units
5
Isometric Drawing #3 (9 minutes) (9 minutes) Additive and Subtractive 3D Drawing Follow the steps in your packet to complete this drawing on the isometric graph paper on page 6 6 units 3 units 2 units
6
Perspective Drawing or Sketch #4 Vanishing points are used to guide the lines in the object to the horizon line. station
7
One-point Perspective #5 – pg6 All lines in the depth project to one point (the vanishing point). #5 - Copy this one-point perspective sketch onto your activity. Label the front, top, and right side. (5 minutes) Vanishing Point (VP) 1st 2nd 3rd What kind of lines are these?
8
Two-Point Perspective In two-point perspective, the width lines converge on one vanishing point (VP1), and the depth lines converge on the other vanishing point (VP2). #6-Copy this two-point perspective onto your activity sheet. Label the top, front, and side. (5 minutes) VP1 VP2

Orthographic (Multiview Sketches or Drawings)
10
Orthographic Projection
11
Orthographic (Multiview) Drawing #7 An orthographic sketch or drawing is used to show true scale and shape. Notice the top view is directly above the front with the right side view directly to the right of the front.
12
Orthographic (Multiview) Drawing #8 Copy this orthographic Drawing onto your activity sheet. Label the top, front, and right side. Don’t forget the hidden lines. (7 minutes) 8 squares 9 squares 6 squares Red lines are construction lines …. optional

Follow the directions below: 1.Sketch a circle roughly 3” in diameter 2.Make two dots inside the circle that are –a.1” from the top edge of the circle –b.1” apart –c.Level with one another on the horizontal axis 3.Make a 2” arc that is –a.Shaped like a banana –b.Pointing towards the top of the circle with its ends –c.1” from the bottom of the circle
