Challenges & issues of the traditional sharing computing solutions
4
Potential issues of traditional sharing computing solutions
Not all these issues, but some of them are bugging you. 01 Video 03 USB Peripherals 05 Display Resolutions Can’t play videos in full screen. Few compatible peripherals supported. Doesn't support high definition resolutions. Can’t play online videos. Requires customized client drivers. Doesn't support REAL 24/32 bits color depth, poor display quality with heavy image distortion or cropping. Can’t play high definition videos. Works only in a few windows systems. Can’t play videos of some file formats. Memory devices can be viewed by all. Performance descends in high resolutions. Few simultaneous video streams per host. A copy is generated on each device plugin. 02 Audio 04 Supported Systems 06 User Isolation High latency. Few operation systems supported, Often only a single Windows Multipoint System. Personal files are visible and editable to other users. Indistinct sound quality. Administrators can't configure individual users according to their actual needs of usage. Able to play, but unable to record. Can't migrate to a new Windows System, or some functions may not perform. Traditional sharing computing solutions typically utilize RDP for delivering remote desktop services to the terminal zero clients. RDP was originally not designed specially for zero clients, leading to compromises and excess endpoint hardware/software to properly retrofit the technology. There are some RDP enhancement technologies represent an attempt to extend the prior RDP technology to support a new architecture delivering full Windows desktop experience. While these RDP enhancements can work in some settings, customers still face a variety of issues and limitations in use. Here lists some performance risks or potential issues that most customers may face in their sharing computing implementations. Although they will not have all the issues, they may be bugged by some of these. Works only in some windows systems. 4
5
Sharing Computing with Zero Client
Cost-saving BUT Experience sacrificed Sharing Computing with zero client is a proven cost-saving solution, but with a single host shared by multiple users, user experience is often compromised in most implementations. Therefore, customers are actually sacrificing user experience in some degree for achieving savings. In other words, they pay less to get less. Sharing Computing will always be the top pick for implementations where costs are the first concern. However, with cost-saving achieved, the focus of customers today on Sharing Computing has shifted to a rich computing experience. 5
6
There is better way to think
Innovative technologies to overcome shortcomings of the traditional sharing computing solution. Today's landscape has a broad selection of protocols or technologies such as SPICE, PCoIP, RemoteFX, HDX, in use with the existing protocols of RDP, ICA, ALP for enhanced performance. But these protocols are typically designed for thin clients in VDI installations, where complexity and heavy costs are known to all. For the simple and low cost Sharing Computing (RDS) installations with zero clients, there's a limited number of compatible display protocols. Decision makers have no choice but using RDP, as well as enhancements, with various limitations or issues. Simply put, RDP has broad support for thin clients in VDI installations, but for Sharing Computing with zero clients, it may not be the best choice for the user experience. vCloudPoint has technologies designed from the ground up with a rich computing experience as a priority. These technologies include optimization of graphics, audio, USB, etc. They're architected to deliver multimedia at the highest possible levels for Sharing Computing with zero clients. Secure User Isolation Protecting your privacy & confidential data.
System Storage Configuration Invisible Space Public Space Private Space The vMatrix Server software overcomes the privacy weakness of traditional sharing solution by putting each user session into a self-container. Each vCloudPoint user has his/her private work-space on a disk partition which cannot be accessed by other users while the rest disk partitions still can be configured visible or invisible to the users. This brings high security to every user with a self-own work-space as well as increased efficiency with a shared center. Administrator Users User 13

Increasing flexibility of your implementation. Desktop Broadcasting Monitoring & Controlling Storage Configuration Internal Communication Administrator User Management Behavior Tracking The vMatrix Management Center provides the IT administrators a user-friendly interface with increased manageability. Besides the general user and desktop management, IT administrators can broadcast his desktop to the endpoint users, communicate with them through the internal Chatting Tool, provide support through monitoring and control over the endpoint desktop, and go down in detail to configure each vCloudPoint zero client user, such as USB, audio, resolution, video, password, etc. 14
15
Efficient Resources Utilization
Enabling a low cost host to be shared by more users. By transferring dynamic pixel changes into a stream video, vCloudPoint’s DDP technology delivers desktops to endpoints at the fastest speed, providing a responsive and smooth desktop experience, while still effectively reducing the utilization of CPU resources and network bandwidth. CPU e.g.: a 720P online video stream consumes 5-8% of an i7 CPU, a 1080P one takes 10-12% DDP (Dynamic Desktop Protocol) With lower CPU and bandwidths utilization, the same back-end infrastructure can support more users and you can save more money from purchasing or upgrading to more powerful back-end infrastructure for heavy workload applications. e.g.: a 720P video file consumes MiB,a 1080P video file takes MiB. Bandwidths The vCloudPont DDP is much more effective and efficient at streaming that RDP or other technologies. It uses an optimized video pipeline implementations to achieve high performance and includes an additional optimization that can reduce host CPU and network bandwidths overhead. With each 720p online video takes 5-8% of an i7 CPU and Mbps, a vCloudPoint workstation consumes 1/2, even 1/3 resources when compared to other solutions. 15

Video testing was performed using 480p video at 1366*768 resolution in Windows 7. Streams per session: if subsequent multiple streams (launching a new player) on the same session is supported. If yes, the number is 1, if not, the number goes to the one with videos per host. Video quality: the best quality of a single video fie that can be played on the terminal zero client. Image CQP: image Constant Quantizer Parameter. the smaller the number is, the better image quality users can view on the endpoint desktop. Note: some vendors claimed that their devices support HD videos of 720p or 1080p, which only means they have the ability of transcoding video files of that size. However, in order to achieve smooth performance, lossy compression is often utilized on transferring pixels to the endpoint display, resulting in actual video output quality not matching that of the original video file. Therefore, when speaking of a zero client supporting HD videos, we should also pay attention to the video output quality at the endpoint desktop. 24
