3 Diversity and Anti-Social Behaviour Themes and Issues The relationships between ASB as a national policy priority and the governance of an increasingly diverse society. The cultural meanings of ASB and disorder, how different groups respond to them and the differential impact of interventions on diverse social, ethnic and faith groups. Impact of policies relating to post 7/7 anti-terrorism concerns and issues of immigration and asylum – the policing of security ‘on the borders’ and ‘in the mainstream’. The gender assumptions, dynamics and implications of ASB and the ‘hidden’ relationship of ASB and mental health. The implications of the government’s social cohesion and citizenship agendas for theory, policy and practice – the tensions between ‘tolerance of difference’ and ‘signing up to British values’.
