10 Limitation to study time
Master’s programme = Full-time study programme 2 years with 30 ECTS / semester At least 80 % of the ECTS credits of the entry year must be completed before start of exit year (or else, mobility may be denied) Missing courses at Aalto after entry year  problems with residence permit extension, enrollment (app. 50 EUR extra), examination arrangements, accommodation… Tuition at Aalto ends by 31 May Study time and study success monitored by the academic and administrative staff Study success reported to Master School Office

11 Keys to success in EIT ICT Labs Master School
Arrive on time in the beginning of the semester. Prepare to study full-time. Follow the curriculum. Abide by the universities’ regulations and statutes. Be proactive and independent in search for information – there are always people here to help you, but encouraging students to be independent and take responsibility is part of the core ideology of Finnish universities. Be an active respondent to any feedback surveys sent to you and participate in the development of the programme.

12 Should any problems occur…
Notify your study coordinator immediately of any changes in circumstances which may affect your ability to follow the programme (i.e. you get sick and miss an exam and have to retake it, or you must suddenly leave home for personal reasons etc.) And if necessary, see a doctor immediately! Not only for your own health and wellbeing, but also because notifications in retrospective (“I was so sick last semester that I couldn’t attend the courses”) don’t help.

13 Practical matters Residence permits
Initiate your residence permit application to your exit university immediately as soon as you receive the admission letter! Note that you need a valid (Finnish or other) residence permit during the summer school too! If you need to extend your Finnish residence permit after 31 July, you must also enroll for the next academic year.

14 Enrollment at Aalto By Finnish law, all university students must be members of the Student Union, i.e. enrollment requires payment of AYY fee You must be enrolled as attending at Aalto always when you pursue studies to be registered, i.e.: The whole entry year Autumn semester of the exit year if you have any pending courses after 31 July (otherwise, you can enroll as non-attending) Spring semester of exit year, when you write your Master’s thesis. The semester of graduation (possibility for reimbursement).

15 Health care and insurance
FSHS student health care = first option always By paying the fee students are entitled to use the services of the Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS)  Basic medical care, gynecologist, mental health care, physiotherapists, and oral health care. Available during office hours only No hospital or emergency services Public health care by using European Social Security Card Tapiola health station is the closest Only for emergency treatments
