Intro Activity “Extreme Canadian Weather Video” Film may take 2-3 class periods Practice your note taking skills –As you watch, take some jot notes on information from the film After the film, we will have a brief open- book quiz based on its content –You may bring any of the notes you’ll take from the film in with you to use during the quiz –Attendance is important!

Introductory Activity In groups of two brainstorm the answer to the following questions: –What is the definition of weather? –What is the definition of climate? –What is the difference between the two terms Jot your answers down in jot note format

Weather vs. Climate: Introductory Questions Please complete the following questions individually in your book. There will be a homework check on them tomorrow. –1. Describe today’s weather conditions in as much detail as possible –2. Describe the climate in Saskatoon for each of the four (4) seasons –3. List five (5) decisions you have made in the past year that have depended on the weather –4. Explain why climate should be considered when planning each of the following events: - a) A fireworks display - b) Winter Olympics at a mountain resort - c) A marathon for charity
