Evader: wants globalisation to just go away Container: tries to limit its impact Engager: responds and initiates globally, while keeping feet planted on local (and national) ground Globalist: everything global is good, and anything good is global Global Agent: has broken all local/national ties, and can live anywhere they serve good coffee

What makes the ‘engager’ globally effective? Communication power: languages help Curiosity: active interest in other cultures Grounding: in local and national identity Realism: the global has pros and cons Responsiveness: to opportunities and others Initiative: proactive more than reactive
