New Initiatives introduced in 2014-15 To harvest rainwater for providing life saving irrigation to kharif crops and palewa irrigation/ irrigation at critical stage for Rabi crops 9000 farm ponds are to be constructed during this year. Ensuring availability of certified seed to farmer- Under demonstration programme 30 kg seed of gram crop per hectare was provided as per approved cafeteria by GOI. The remaining quantity of certified seed required for one hectare was made available to the farmers under seed distribution programme of NFSM-Pulses.

Steps Taken to implement Cropping System based Demonstration Farmers have been selected for Kharif and Rabi Season. Guideline for implementation and procurement of inputs has been provided to the field officers. Technical knowledge and information for organization of demonstrations has been provided through trainings under NFSM and other schemes. Only 1717 demonstrations were organized against the target of 13162 demonstrations due to shortage of less than 10 years notified variety seed of kharif pulses. Cropping System based Demonstrations are being organized in Rabi season at the same plots of the farmers.

Learning from implementation of Coarse Cereals components The programme has been liked by farmers. To ensure availability of certified seed of bajra and sorghum during 2015-16- There was shortage of availability of less than 10 years notified certified seed of bajra & sorghum. Therefore to ensure availability during next year seed production programme has been decided with NSC and RSSC in Andhra Pradesh. 12 districts viz Ajmer, Alwar, Barmer, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Churu, Jaipur, Jalore, Jhunjhunu, Jodhpur, Nagaur and Sikar have been selected under NFSM-Coarse Cereals, which cover maximum area of bajra crop. Maize is the second largest coarse cereal crop after Bajra in the State Banswara, Dungarpur, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Pratapgarh and Udaipur districts contribute 63% of the Maize area of State, but these have not been included under NFSM-Coarse Cereals. Therefore above six districts may be considered under NFSM-Coarse Cereals.

The major part of the liabilities is for gram crop 2011-12 because its produce was received during 2012-13’ Pending liabilities of these components upto 2011-12 are for Rs 482.57 lacs as per details given below- This pending liability is of Rajasthan State Seed Corporation Ltd.

2. Approval of Intercropping Demonstration Programme conducted under NFSM- Pulses during 2013-14 As per discussions in 12th Meeting of NFSMEC, to increase area and production of kharif pulses, a action plan for Intercropping Demonstrations during Kharif,2013-14 was sent for approval. In anticipation of the approval and looking to the onset of monsoon, the programme was implemented in 82535 hectare area during kharif, 2013-14. The required quantity of high yielding variety seed of pulses was provided under the programme and other inputs (viz. seed of cereal crops, gypsum, micronutrient, PP chemicals) were arranged by the farmers at their own level under subsidy programmes of NFSM. The expenditure involved is Rs. 463.78 lacs. The approval of the programme is still awaited and expenditure has been booked under NFSM- Pulses during 2013-14.

3. Approval of PMT in Bharatpur, Dausa, Dholpur and Rajsamand districts under NFSM- Pulses. GOI has approved Project Management Team (Consultant and Technical Assistant) in 29 districts of the State. The districts without PMT are Bharatpur, Dausa, Dholpur and Rajsamand. The NFSM-Pulses programme is implemented in all the 33 districts of the State. 4. Inclusion of Banswara, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Rajsamand, Pratapgarh and Udaipur districts under NFSM Coarse Cereals Under NFSM-Coarse Cereals 12 districts viz Ajmer, Alwar, Barmer, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Churu, Jaipur, Jalore, Jhunjhnu, Jodhpur, Nagaur & Sikar have been selected during 2014-15 for increasing area and production of Coarse Cereals (bajra, maize, jowar and barley). These selected 12 Coarse Cereals districts cover 70% of total area of coarse cereals but area coverage of maize crop by these districts is only 20%. Whereas Banswara, Dungarpur, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Pratapgarh and Udaipur districts contribute 66% of the State maize area which have not been selected under NFSM-Coarse Cereals.
