GPS Receiver measures distance from location to four closest satellites. Four satellites measure relative distance to each other and send radio signal to receiver. Receiver measures time it took to retrieve radio signals, than finds distance to satellites. Receiver calculates distances and finds longitude, latitude, altitude, and speed.
