5 Issues Navicre faces: I. Offered courses are predominantly self-directed and with little alternative for collaboration II. Time demands for updating Navicre staff pedagogical and design know-how III. Limited technological prowess of Navicre staff

6 Topic and Aims What does Navicre require from our team?

7 Topic and Aims Navicre wants us to show the benefits of playful, collaborative learning, while keeping in mind enterprise-common limitations (mentioned previously). Acquired skills will assist Navicre staff in innovating web course design.

8 Topic and Aims Our aims: 1. Provide a solid theoretical background to support implementation of playful learning and CSCL as a means to produce a more engaging educational experience. 2. Present case examples of successful experiences in selected educational design. 3. Design and implement a web course to provide insights in usefulness, practicality and benefits of selected educational design. 3.5 But there appeared to be an issue with aim #3…

9 Progress so far Upon meeting with Navicre representatives, we realized there was a slight clash of interests (or perhaps of epistemological approach): (Try 1) Us: “Let´s design a web course!” Navicre staff: “The platform doesn´t have communication channels to enable collaboration.” (Try 2) Us: “Let´s hold a face-to-face seminar to perform a traditional exposition.” Navicre staff: “Our workers cannot gather all together, and much less have time enough for what you suggest.”

11 Progress so far Thus, we agreed to: 1. Create a 5-minute-long video to show the benefits of playful and CSCL, adhering to our initial aims. 2. Hold an asynchronous discussion with Navicre web course designers to exchange expertises. Pedagogy and Web course design. 3. Possibly hold a live webinar with Navicre web course designers for the abovementioned objective.

12 Progress so far The team began designing… Video should be held in a documentary-ish format, showing a contrast between non-use of playful learning and CSCL and application of it. Interviews should be included, enquiring on successful experiences in selected topics from different perspectives (educational expert, tech expert, entrepreneur).

13 How has the group fared? The team has fared well, so far, counting with support (and comprehension and patience) from the teacher in charge. Roles were adopted from the beginning, based on previous knowledge and level of expertise in specific skills: academic writing, leadership, diplomacy, creativity, tech-use, etc.

14 Challenges encountered? The already mentioned. Solved by suggesting alternatives. Additionally, challenges regarding meeting times and material selection. These have been worked on based on a strong group cohesion (as seen in previous photos), and agreements reached based on joint discussions.

15 Further steps? Finishing up the video and polishing it, making sure it is attractive enough and meaningful in terms of content. Possibly, implementing a post-video questionnaire enquiring about impact of presented material on Navicre web course designers. Writing the poster.
