4 Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission 4 Goals of the IURC 1.The IURC is Supportive of the GIS Initiative and Willing to Actively Participate 2.We Believe a System Should Be Built that Keeps the Needs of All Industry Sectors in Mind 3.The Selected GIS Tool Needs to be Extremely Compatible with a Wide Range of Data Types 4.No Industry Sector Should be Unfairly Burdened with Start-up Costs

5 Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission 5 The IURC Proposes a Partnership 1.The Commission Can Assist with the Design, Development, and Implementation of a Universal GIS Data Warehouse Environment 2.The Commission Can Assist Individual Industry Sectors to Proceed When They Are Ready 3.Each Utility Would Need to Compile and Digitize Their Own Data for IURC Submittal 4.All Interested Parties Would Collaborate Together on Process Issues

6 Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission 6 Specifics of the IURC Proposal 1.The IURC Proposes to Work with ESRI, the State of Indiana Approved Vendor 2.The IURC and ESRI Would Develop a Start-Up Plan and Budget 3.The IURC Would Provide Funding for Start-Up Hardware and Software Needs Related to the Data Warehouse System 4.The IURC is Prepared to Commit up to $125,000 to Fund Initial Start-up Costs for the Data Warehouse

7 Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission 7 Specifics of the IURC Proposal 5.The Commission Will Contribute the Time of IURC Staff to Develop and Manage the System 6.No Additional Personnel Costs to Customize the ESRI Product Are Included in the Cost Projection and Are Not Anticipated to be Necessary 7.The IURC Will Also Fund Projected Recurring Annual System Maintenance Expenses on the Hardware and Software of Approximately $25,000 8.If Our Proposal is Acceptable, the Commission is Prepared to Begin System Development Immediately
