PUNNETT SQUARE PRACTICE
For all of the crosses write the following information, do a Punnett square and answer any questions. Parents Gametes Genotypic ratio: Phenotypic ratio: The trait being studied is round seeds (dominant) and wrinkled seeds (recessive) 1. Heterozygous round with wrinkled What percentage of the offspring will be round? ___________ 2. Two hybrid round. 3. Homozygous dominant round, with heterozygous. 4. A TT (tall) plant is crossed with a tt (short plant). What percentage of the offspring will be tall? ___________ DIHYBRID In mice black fur is dominant over white and red eyes are dominant over black. A hybrid for black fur and red eyed mouse is mated with a white mouse with black eyes.

3D Model of Biologic Topic (up to 20 points)
Create a 3D model of any biologic topic that we have covered or will cover in class. The model should have labels that are clear for any parts. The model should be freestanding so it can be displayed in the classroom. Please check your topic/idea with Mrs.Velarde Concepts could include but are not limited to: cell cell membrane chloroplast/photosynthesis mitochondria/respiration DNA Chromosome karyotype Virus Bacteria DNA Replication Mitosis Meiosis Genetics (punnett squares, heredity, probability, fruit flies, flower anatomy)

up to 20 points Research and create a poster (not flimsy- must stand upright supported by wall) on a genetic disorder. The poster should be researched and have images and labels that are clear for any parts. What causes the disease, what chromosome, symptoms, treatments, cures? Bibliographic References on back (Works Cited) The poster should be freestanding (on foam board not poster board) so it can be displayed in the classroom. 11/24 Introduction Questions
How many chromosomes would a sperm or an egg contain they were made by the process of mitosis? 2. If a sperm containing 46 chromosomes fused with an egg containing 46 chromosomes, how many chromosomes would the resulting fertilized egg contain? Do you think this would create any problems in the developing embryo? 3. In order to produce a fertilized egg with the appropriate number of chromosomes (46), how many chromosomes should each sperm and egg have?
26
12/4 Genetics Review Define independent assortment and segregation.
2. A hybrid tall plant is crossed with a short plant: a. Make a Punnett Square to show the possible outcomes. b. What is the probability of producing a short plant? c. What are the genotypes of the possible offspring? d. What are the phenotypes of the possible offspring? e. What is the genotypic ratio? f. What is the phenotypic ratio? 3. The alleles for sex in a female are XX and a male are XY. What is the probability of having a male? A female?
