Once on the internet: type in the URL box: ntrl.ntis.gov (this is the screen you should see) on) Click here to create your account.

Fill in each box, and click the sign up button Click Sign Up Click on the blue arrow to pull up the choices for sector and pick one. You must agree to the NTRL Terms and Conditions to use NTRL. Click in this box to do so. Once you have signed up, you can click on sign in.

Only Premium subscribers have access to Advanced Searches. Type in your search here. Once you are signed in, your name will show here after welcome.

For example: the word energy is in the search box. Click on Search button.

If you click on Advanced Search without having signed up for Premium NTRL, this is the message you receive: Advanced Search Advanced Search is only available in Premium accounts. For pricing information, use this link: NTRL Pricing

This is what you see when you click the Advanced Search button when you are a Premium Subscriber. You can click on each category to narrow your search.

Here you can see there are multiple pages about energy. When you get this icon you can click on it to download the document. Non-subscriber receives 5 downloads per session. Premium subscriber receives 40 downloads per session. Here the results are listed for the documents with Energy.

Non-subscribers will see “* Note: This document is not digitized. To request a copy, press NTIS Web Store ”. Once you click on this, it will bring up the page to add to cart(follow the steps to purchase the document). Premium Subscribers will see “*Note: This document is not digitized. To request a copy, press Digital on Demand”, it sends a request to the Digital On Demand Team saying that this document needs to be digitized.

This is what you see as a non- subscriber to NTRL when you click on NTIS Web Store. From here click on Add to Cart and follow the steps to order the document. Click here

When a premium subscriber requests a document from the Digital On Demand team, it shows up on this screen for the team. The screen contains the product number, page count, title, requesting organization, requestor and their email, approved by, approval date, NTIS completed by, NTIS completed date, last processed by, last processed date, status, available actions for the document (Approved, Declined, Completed), comment column for the Administrator, and comment column for NTIS in-house use. Under comments, the Administrator can leave a comment for Digital On Demand (this is where we let the customer know the document is complete as well as the email). Once the newly digitized document is available for download, an email is sent to the requestor and administrator with a link to the document to download. When the approving official from your organization is logged into NTRL, they can see this screen and approve requests for their organization as well. A request for digitization may take up to 10 days.
