XFD – XF Engineering Group October 20, 2005LCLS Undulator Alignment and Motion System1 Precision and repeatability of cam-shaft system in both directions (vertically and transverse), measured on undulator ends, for pitch and yaw motion as well. We are shooting for ± 5µPrecision and repeatability of cam-shaft system in both directions (vertically and transverse), measured on undulator ends, for pitch and yaw motion as well. Expected on 11/25.All transition plates, wedges and supporting parts (designs are complete, parts are on order). Expected on 11/25. What components we need to start a final test:

XFD – XF Engineering Group October 20, 2005LCLS Undulator Alignment and Motion System3 LCLS new single cam-shaft mover New gear box with ratio 250:1 is installed. Calculation showed this ratio is enough to hold undulator with the girder in place. That’s why a motor without brake is used.

XFD – XF Engineering Group October 20, 2005LCLS Undulator Alignment and Motion System4 LCLS new double cam-shaft mover The same changes were implemented in this unit as in the single cam-shaft.

XFD – XF Engineering Group October 20, 2005LCLS Undulator Alignment and Motion System5 LCLS new double cam-shaft mover (detail) Hardness of the rings on the ball- bearings was increased from 30-34 Rc to 50-55 Rc

XFD – XF Engineering Group October 20, 2005LCLS Undulator Alignment and Motion System6 LCLS new single cam-shaft mover working with “V” pad The flat pad is replaced by one with a “V” shape - 16  angle. A double bearing is installed instead of the single bearing Its purpose is to replace sliding friction by rolling friction.
