Momentum Measurement Card Project supervised by: Mony Orbach Project performed by: Hadas Preminger, Uri Niv
2
Introduction A collaboration between the Physic ’ s lab and HS DSL. Developing an electronic card capable of measuring the momentum, in one of the experiments being done in the Physics faculty. The card will eventually integrate into an overall solution suggested in the computerizing of the entire experiment.
3
The Momentum Experiment
5
Flow Chart Logical Unit Fast Memory (Buffer) Data to USB Converter 2 Optical Encoders
6
Input Signals 2 Optical encoder modules placed on a miller strip, each encoder transmitting the following signals: 2 analog channels indicating on which area of the miller strip the cart was (by transmitting two voltage levels). 1 channel defining the direction of the cart. A reset signal, from computer.
7
Output Signals A file consisting of an array of two dimensional vectors: Cart ’ s location coordination. The time of the corresponding coordination.
8
The System ’ s Rates The sampling rate is 1 MHz. The maximum measuring period is 5 sec. The cart ’ s maximum velocity is 5 m/sec The cart ’ s minimum velocity is 0 m/sec
