2. What was it? On May 4, 1886 a bomb exploded in the Haymarket Square, in Chicago during a Union Labor Rally. It was never discovered who through the bomb into the police squadron. Seven police officers died during this.

3. Why and the result Knights of Labor union were in Chicago on an eight hour campaign on May 1, 1886. Those who joined were anarchists and at the McCormick Reaper works. It occurred because a conflict came about and two workers were shot. The May 4 th rally happened because of the events that occurred the previous day. What happened on May 3 rd effected the Knights of Labor Union because the American Federation of Labor wanted to protect the privileges of individual craft unions.
