2. It was a big day. Tim’s bud Nate was on the train. Tim made the bed. He asked Jan to help, him but she said, “No way! I must paint my nails."

3. Dad said, “Tim, I will take you in the van to get Nate.” Tim said, “I can’t wait! At last I can play with a kid the same age as me. We will camp and play games.”

4. It was a long day for Nate. He had a nap as he sat on the train.

5. Then Nate was awake. The train stopped. It was in a strange place. Nate felt afraid.

6. A man came up to Nate and said, “We will have to wait. We had to brake to fix the rail.”

7. Nate said, “I will be late. Tim will hate to wait.” But the man had left. Nate said, “Maybe I can paint as I wait.”

8. Nate made a pig face on the page. “I will make it say, ‘Slim, Tim’s pet pig.’” Slim, Tim’s pet pig.

9. The rail was fixed, and the train got back on its way.

10. The man came back. Nate said, “I have a pet in this gray case. My pet is named Jake.”

11. It was a snake! The man went away fast!

12. Nate said to his snake, “Tim will make a space for you, Jake. It will be fun to scare Jan. You will make Jan shake!”

13. At the end of the day, Nate made it at last. They had fun on the trip back to Tim's place.

14. When they got back, Nate asked Jan, “Want to play with my pet?” Jan was not tricked. “Okay,” said Jan, “Nice snake!”
