INSTITUTE OF WASTE MANAGEMENT AND CONTAMINATED SITE TREATMENT

History  Part of the Faculty of Forestry, Geo and Hydrosciences  Founded in 1995, as cooperation of two chairs: - Chair of Waste Management - Chair of Contaminated Site Treatment  System Analysis and Computer Science also joined later  Pirna, upon the banks of the Elbe River (15 km SE from Dresden) Location

 About 40 people (education and research): chemists, geologists, civil engineers, microbiologists and computer scientists Staff members  Basic training and education focused on: - German diploma/master’s study course; - International master program: “Waste Management and Contaminated Site Treatment”  Research activities

Basic study program Education Intermediate study program Advanced study program

Endownment (?) Modern and high quality laboratories, lecture rooms and facilities. Large spatial capacities for research reactors, such as: landfill simulation reactors lysimeters soil columns laboratory sewage treatment plants fluidised bed reactors
