1
Create a comfortable learning environment by establishing rubric, and classroom procedures.
2
Rubrics and procedures are important to be familiar with and perform to meet the expectation you desire. The choices you make will grant you the grades you will have earned. The more you know the more at ease you will be by the end of the school year.
3
Every assignment is graded Grade scale as of 2012 year (per Alliance) 4.1-5 is an A which is correlated to 90-100% 3.1-4 is an B which is correlated to 80-89.9% 2.1-3 is an C which is correlated to 70-79.9 % 1.1-2 is an NP which is correlated to 50-69.9 % 1 and Below is an NP which is correlated to 49.9% and Below
4
The standard method of grading is going to make you work harder to succeed. To avoid receiving an undesired grade Do all your work Do all your work on time Stay on task Do not fall behind Study STUDY!!!
5
Take a moment now to think about what you are going to do to achieve success. Examples Do all your homework and assignments on time Study before an exam for at least two days Go out of your way to get help Let someone know you need help Be a teacher. By helping other you help yourself reinforce the material.
6
Do you remember, what it takes to score (((#)))? Remember that you are held accountable for all assignments, homework, and related exams. This included when you are absent. In case you are absent: “Absent Folder” There will an “Absent Folder” available for the following day you return upon being absent Utilize this folder to complete all your assignments on time for an appropriate grade You are responsible for knowing what you missed. The teacher is not going to hold you by the hand and go over all the material you missed. Use your peers as resources. Use the internet. Failure to take the initiative to be responsible will guarantee you the grade you deserve
7
In case you are absent: You may email the teacher or other students You may call other students to get the information you need Exchange contact information now Do not forget to visit the “Absent Folder” first thing when you return Preferably in the morning so you have ample time to work and ask questions before you leave for the day Visit the teacher website which will be available soon as possible Once up and running you will get the link If you know you are going to be absent, let the teacher know ahead of time to give you the work you need and possibly give you a print out of the notes. Oh yeah!
8
In case you are absent Remember, late homework will be docked a letter grade Assignments, homework, and exams not completed within the week from the due date will be given the lowest grade possible and unable to change it thereafter. You are held responsible and accountable 100%. It is not the teachers job to hold you by the hand and get you to do your missing work (If you believe otherwise, then I am not your teacher but your babysitter)
9
When you enter the classroom Be proactive not reactive Look at the white board for important information Start working immediately, even if you are here before the bell rings Remember you are here to learn During Instruction Listen, listen, LISTEN! Number one reason for not completing an assignments is because you were not listening Let others listen to instructions. So stop disrupting others. Most importantly stop disrupting yourself
10
When you are ask to work on your own Be productive When you talk to other students keep it minimal and make sure you are speaking math Raise your hand if you require the teachers attention When you are asked to work with others Be productive When you talk to other students keep it minimal and make sure you are speaking math Raise your hand if you require the teachers attention
11
During an Assessment/Quiz/Test Be productive Unfortunately, during this time you are not allowed to speak with other students and you are not allowed to work with others during this time Raise your hand if you require the teachers attention When you leave the classroom Make sure you have everything you need to be successful. In other words, do not leave with unanswered questions or doubts Look around your desk to pick up trash to keep our room clean Leave happy
12
When you are outside of this classroom In case you need help Ask another student for help You may ask me for help via email Attend tutoring sessions Make sure you work on your assignments to complete them on time Late work will be docked a letter grade Study, Study, STUDY!!!
13
Exit Slip/Assessment What is one thing you do like about the rubrics What is one thing you do not like about the rubrics? What would you like to see added to the rubrics or procedures? Explain why you want to add it. Make sure to think about others as you continue to write. Homework PC: Look over your notes to find out what you remember about graphing sine and cosine functions, in terms of amplitude, period, shift, translation. A2: Research about Logarithms and exponents. Bring your notebook!!! Be ready to learn and take a pretest.
