Accreditation Status of University CSUCI has been recognized as a Candidate for Accreditation by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) The status is a preliminary affiliation with the Commission awarded for the maximum of four years. Candidacy is an indication that the institution is progressing toward Accreditation. Candidacy is not accreditation and does not ensure eventual accreditation.

Nursing Accreditation CSUCI nursing program has undergone a feasibility study and is conducting a self study, one stage in receiving BRN approval. Information at this session is pending BRN approval. It is anticipated the self study will be completed by the January 2007 BRN Education & Licensing Committee meeting. The program will apply for ACNE accreditation after the graduation of the first graduation class.

Broad base of education in liberal arts and sciences Curriculum based on conceptual framework of health-illness with research based interventions Expands career options and is often required for entry into MSN or Doctoral Programs Incorporates the expanded roles of the nurse according to the AACN Includes the global perspective of nursing

At the completion of the CSUCI program the student will: Function in the role of a professional nurse (care provider, coordinator, health educator & patient advocate) Collaborate as a member or a leader on a health care team Follow nursing process to promote optimum wellness in a variety of settings Demonstrate commitment to the profession by engaging in professional development and lifelong learning Meet eligibility requirements to take the NCLEX licensing exam and requirements for California Public Health Nurse Certificate

Cohort Model The students in the program will use the cohort model of class enrollment and this will require full time enrollment. You and your classmates move from one level of classes to another in a sequential manner from 200 to 300 to 400. Enrollment in the nursing program involves full time commitment for three years.

BSN PROGRAM APPROVED SUPPLEMENTAL CRITERIA Grade point average in Pre-nursing courses (10 points) Overall cumulative grade point average (6 points) English Language Proficiency based on TEAS score (6 points) Basic Math Proficiency based on TEAS (6 points) Proficiency in a second language (6 points) Education or work experience (8 points) Residency in preferred geographic area (4 points)

Program Requirements Physical Exam Proof of Immunity to Rubella, Mumps, Rubeola, Hepatitis B, Varicella Current CPR - C certification CPR for Health Care Provider or CPR for the professional /rescuer Drug screen Criminal background check paid for by the student and though an agency approved by health services. Evidence of physical and emotional health throughout the program All program requirements must be completed the summer before admissions - instructions will be sent in the admissions to the program letter

Two cohorts of the Track I curriculum Currently in Development Funding from state enabled nursing to add 33 new students to the original cohort of 33 One group (Track 1A)of students will be in a collaborative program with the community college for the first three semesters of the program. The other group (Track 1B) of 33 students will be in the generic program for the first three semesters All students will join together in the spring semester of the junior year for the remaining 3 semesters

Two cohorts of the Track I curriculum continued Students will be chosen randomly for either track of the curriculum Students will be given notification of which cohort they will enroll in upon acceptance into the program All students will graduate as CSUCI BSN graduates
