2 Abstract המעבדה למערכות ספרתיות מהירות High speed digital systems laboratory 2 In this project we needed to developed of a working environment for a multi-purpose card - Strathnuey by NALLATECH PCI card. The card simplifies the communication between the PC and external hardware using the PCI Bus. The card includes two Xilinx FPGA (Spartan –II), the first is configured with PCI CORE and the other (the User FPGA) is free to be programmed. The card also includes a DIME expansion slot which connects to another FPGA. We received a software by NALLATECH which controls the loading of the User FPGA and the DIME Module. The project included developing additional modules to the card and writing GUI for the use of implementing a DEVICE DRIVER in a more convenient way.

3 System description המעבדה למערכות ספרתיות מהירות High speed digital systems laboratory 3 The Strathnuey card is connected to the PC through the PCI Bus. On the Card there are two Xilinx Spartan –II FPGAs. The first is loaded with the PCI Core, which handles all the communication to the PCI BUS (both ways). The second FPGA is called User FPGA and is free for us to load any design we want. The two FPGAs communicate through a local bus. The User FPGA is intended to control the connection to the DIME Module and communicate with the card that will be on it. On the DIME slot we built an expansion card consists of the BallyTest Module and a Xilinx XC4062XL FPGA. Strathnuey Spec:  Voltage Supply : 3.3 Volt  Interface: Gui supplied with the card for interfacing with the PCI FPGA.  Data Transfer rate : 33 Mhz, except for internal bridge between PCI and User FPGA where data b transfers at 40MHz.  Hardware requirements:  1. Ballytest card module.  2. XC4062XL FPGA

4 Specification המעבדה למערכות ספרתיות מהירות High speed digital systems laboratory Hardware Software 4 Building a module on a Dime™ adapted board,which consists of a Xilinx XC4062XL and an I/O connector. The Module will be placed on the BallyTest DIME Connector Breakout Module. Loading the User FPGA ( on the strathnuey card) and the FPGA resident on the DIME expansion slot with designs which communicate Writing a GUI which will able the user to : 1. Load designs to the two FGPAs 2.Communicate to the FPGAs and initiate write/read transactions.
