3. We assume you have already installed Audacity and are now ready to save your first compressed MP3 recording.

4. Download and install the LAME MP3 encoder 1. Go to: http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/ 2.scroll down to here: 3.Click here To download 4.Run the installer, following the directions. Remember the directory you install LAME in. The default is: C:\Program Files\Lame for Audacity

5. Save a file, exporting it as an MP3

6. The first time you save an MP3 file, Audacity will display this dialog box: Click on Yes then locate the LAME file, lame_enc.dll that you downloaded previously.

7. Navigate to lame_enc.dll and click Open In my case, lame_enc.dll was in the directory: C:\Program Files\Lame for Audacity. 1 2

8. This dialog box let’s you describe the file before it is saved

9. That is it – Audacity will automatically export MP3 files in the future
