What we want l One of a package of e-learning tools. l Online support for students groupwork. l Focused contextually relevant thematic discussion group with summary. l Feedback from teachers and peers. l Simple interface that can be linked to from any html page.

Why not use integrated systems? l..can be intimidating for novices. l..too much all at once. l..the interfaces dominates content. l..too complicated for one off use. l..you buy into a system and have to accept the producers logic.

What will the forum contain l Thematic forum/discussion group l Feedback on the discussion l Summary l Feedback on the summary l Registration of students contributions

Spec.-discussion group l Is specific to the theme as defined by the course. l Each primary group working with the topic has its own forum/discussion group where participation is restricted to the group and teacher(s) (participants can read and write contributions). l The discussion can be viewed and read by parallel groups. l Parallel groups and teachers can give feedback on the discussion.

Spec.-summary l The summary can be written by the whole group, some of the students in the group or an individual student – as specified in the course plan. l Time limits can apply. l Summaries may be read by parallel groups and teachers. l Feedback can be written and read by teachers and parallel groups. l The primary group can only read feedback. l Summaries can be evaluated by teachers.
