4. How will Librarians Do in the Next 5 Years? Provide services to students, faculty and staff Provide training to library staff Professional development Design new building & facilities

6. Frontline Services or Backend Services? Frontline / outreach services Outsource acquisition, cataloguing and physical processing

7. Proportion of Librarians vs. Non- Librarians More librarians –Need more subject librarians and IT specialist –For outreaching services Less support staff –As we have more e-books, less check-in, check-out job –We can use more students helpers

8. Library Qualifications for Library Staff? Yes. We required library staff with library qualifications –For the subject librarians / IT specialists –Because they need to understand library operation, and also they should understand library terminology and also the library system –For the existing library staff –Provide on-job training, or through staff exchange, staff development program

9.Library Staff Recruitment We need the staff to be multi-tasking, thus the recruitment way will change, the new staff should have library qualifications For the existing staff, staff development program, staff exchange, attend meeting, seminar, conference, workshops

Library Organization and Staff Proportion Library organization: –Collection development-20% –References- 40% access services, user education, outreach, ILL, DDS –Information system department-35% provide IT support, database maintenance, hardware & software maintenance, new technological applications –Admin & management services-5%
