3 PALM-3000 3 RTC Hardware Software Installation and Test Suse Kickstart DVD Install –Complete –Custom RPMS completed and tested –Custom scripts to install Nvidia development libs Quadrics drivers EDT drivers –2 disks Disk 1 = Base + patches Disk 2 = custom scripts Quadrics Installation –Quadrics switch installed and configured –Linux driver installed –Initial communication tests completed

4 PALM-3000 4 RTC Hardware Software Installation and Test Development Rack –Will be installed next week and set up in JPL AO Lab Production Rack –Will have the initial Suse kickstart release installed next week –Will be shipped to Caltech within the following weeks

6 PALM-3000 DM Driver Hardware –Xinetics Gen III Mirror Electronics Software –Initial test software written –Reads in command line arguments or files –Communicates over the RS 232 interface –Needs to be cleaned up and put into a linkable library Results –Able to set the driver state to active and send commands successfully

7 PALM-3000 DM Driver Results –Several commands are still not working ‘B’ – set the bias voltage ‘C’ – set the frame size (currently have to send full frames) ‘D’ – read the driver type Rest of the command set still needs to be tested –To complete this week Working with Xinetics –Need to actively work with Xinetics to make sure we have all the commands working required for P3K operation

8 PALM-3000 P3K Cassegrain Cage Racks Space Required –Require 4 rack spaces on the cassegrain cage –Two 30U for the DM electronics –Two 24 U for the general AO electronics –These spaces do not include the instrument cage

9 PALM-3000 P3K Cassegrain Cage Racks Locations –DM Drivers in 2 and 3 –General racks in 4 and 5 –Instrument rack in 6 This has not been confirmed by Palomar but should be possible I’ve been told

16 PALM-3000 P3K Cabling Cabling design –Overall design and documentation to begin soon –DM cabling already in the works Dean working on DM cabling and has made some significant progress –Cabling from FPGA to “magic box” –“Magic box” to DM drivers –Currently working on a quick connect from the DM drivers to the mirror to speed up instrument installation and eliminate errors
