4 Housed at U Vic, PICS is a 4-university collaborative effort with strong links between academic researchers & senior decision makers in government and industry Seeks innovative ways to mitigate GHG emissions + adapt to climate change Through education & outreach will promote the exchange of information & ideas to meet the challenges ahead

9 PICS Fellowships Initial competition occurred in Spring 2008 Eight awards, 2 each to the 4 universities Competition for 2008-09 will be announced shortly –Deadlines, criteria for application and adjudication are in development –Will be changes from first competition –What follows is tentative & full info will be distributed to Deans of Graduate Studies as soon as it is available

10 Fellowships for 2008-09 Likely will have two different deadlines –Late fall for PhD students –Late spring for Masters students Eligibility: –Full-time enrollment in graduate program –Strong academic performance –Research in one of PICS priority areas for 2008-09 Funding: up to $10,000 Will attend PICS workshop & present work, network with other PICS researchers
