Ground Hand and Arm Signals TASK: Move as a small unit while using only hand and arm signals CONDITIONS: Given a field environment and full field gear, day and night situations. STANDARD: Unit must avoid detection while moving to an objective using only visible signals as outlined in this TSP

Discussion Leaders of dismounted units use hand and arm signals to control movement of individuals, teams, and squads Leaders of mounted units use hand and arm signals to control individual vehicles and platoon movements –Flags may be used as distances increase

Patrolling Hand and Arm Signals Patrolling is conducted by many type units. Infantry units patrol in order to conduct combat operations. Other units patrol for reconnaissance and security. Successful patrols require clearly understood communication signals among members of a patrol.
