3 Definitions  Appendix - Extra material that is collected and appended (added on) at the end of a book. May refer to an index (which gives page numbers for people, places, or things mentioned in the book).  This is different from a footnote, which cites a reference for only one part of a text. wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn
