14 Questions for Consideration What is the organizational relationship between Athletics and Student Affairs? To what extent does the chief student affairs officer on your campus fill what might be termed the role of “presidential oversight” or involvement with athletics? Does the athletic director, senior woman administrator, or other representative participate in regularly scheduled student affairs departmental or divisional meetings?

15 Questions for Consideration Is the Athletic Department included in programming conducted by various student affairs departments — e.g., orientation, student activities, health services, residential life, counseling, …? What kinds of vehicles do you use to build relationships with various student affairs offices — broadcast email, newsletters, staff orientation, co-programming, …? Does athletics interact directly with student groups that come under the student affairs umbrella — e.g., fraternities and sororities, student government, program boards, clubs,…? How are these interactions facilitated?

16 Questions for Consideration Are student affairs officers involved in the governance of your athletic conference? How? What are the benefits or challenges of such involvement?
