Quiescent Loop Heating Profiles with AIA Henry (Trae) Winter, Kerry Neal, Jenna Rettenmayer, & Piet Martens Montana State University--Bozeman
2
The Problem Priest,et al. (2000): The heating is distributed evenly along the coronal loop. Markus Aschwanden (2001): The heating occurs at the footpoints of coronal loops. F. Reale (2002): heating is at the apex of the loops

Current Work Analyze a loop to see if different heating profiles provide an observale signal Using the parameters of a loop observed in SUMER by Cargill & Klimchuck (2004) –Power~10 24 ergs s -1 –Constant diameter: 7e8 cm –Half length: 7.5e9 cm Model the loop using a 1-D hydrodynamics with code varying heat profiles Watch the results
