28 Introduction What is an Infinitive? What is an Infinitive? –An infinitive is a verbal noun. –It is called "in-finitive" or non-finite because it does not have a subject limiting it. –It is usually translated "To + verb idea". –E.g. He went to start the car. – He decided to run for senate.
