6. Objective: To solve application problems In a city of 25,000 homes, a survey was taken to determine the number of homes with cable television. Of the 300 homes surveyed, 210 had cable. At that same rate, estimate the number of homes in the city that have cable television. 210 300 = 7 10 210 300 = x 25,000 10 x = 175,000 x = 17,500 Answer: About 17,500 homes in the city would have cable television 7 10
