Course work –Reading (approx. two papers per week) –Discussion: Each student will lead discussion during one class period: Overview of topic/method Discussion of paper(s) related to topic/method –Project: Each student will do a research project, write a paper, give a 15-20-minute talk on their project. (Aim: publishable paper) Note: ICML: In Seattle, summer 2011. Submissions are due in early 2011. –Reviewing: Each student will review three other students’ papers

Grading Students will be graded on their class presentations, class participation, and final project talk and paper.

Dates One-page project proposal, with 4+ paper literature review list, due by Tuesday April 6 First draft of paper due by Thursday May 27, assigned to reviewers Reviews due by Thursday June 3 Paper presentations Tuesday June 1, Thursday June 3, Monday June 7 Final papers due by Friday June 11
